Dryer Fabric Tracking Issues: A Structured Inspection Before Changing Fabric

Tracking deviation can damage fabric edges and interrupt stable operation, but it is rarely solved by assuming that the fabric alone is the cause. Start with a structured observation before ordering a replacement.

Record the behavior precisely

Note the position, direction, timing, and repeatability of the deviation. Does it occur after a grade change, cleaning, shutdown, tension adjustment, or at a particular speed? Photos and short records, where site rules allow them, are more useful than a general description of “running off”.

Review the machine-side conditions

Check the condition and alignment of relevant rolls, cleaning devices, guide systems, loading, tension, and edge contact. Inspect the removed fabric for uneven edge wear, contamination, damage, or dimensional change. This does not replace a site inspection, but it creates a factual basis for discussion.

Specify a replacement only after the review

Send the machine position, old fabric details, dimensions, seam arrangement, and observations to the supplier. A new fabric should be reviewed against the complete context, not selected as a blanket cure. Use the technical inquiry form and reference the applicable dryer-fabric construction.
