Dryer Fabric Installation Checklist: Checks Before the First Production Run

Installing a replacement dryer fabric is not only a fitting task. The first production run is also the best time to confirm that the supplied fabric, the paper machine path and the operating plan are aligned. A short, structured check helps the mill identify issues early and gives the supplier usable facts if technical support is needed.

Confirm the fabric before it reaches the machine

Match the packing label with the purchase order and the position on the paper machine. Record the fabric type, machine direction, width, seam arrangement and any position notes supplied with the order. Before installation, take clear photos of the roll, seam area and edges. These records make later discussion much easier if the mill needs to compare a replacement with the outgoing fabric.

For dryer positions exposed to demanding heat and moisture, the fabric construction should be selected against the actual position and running conditions. At the same time, note the paper grade, dryer position, operating speed and any visible runnability observation. The goal is not to make assumptions from a single moment; it is to provide a clear timeline if an adjustment or technical review is required.

Prepare useful information for technical follow-up

If the mill needs support, send the fabric label details, machine position, current speed, paper grade, recent operating changes and photos or short video of the observed condition. Information about guide response, edge clearance and seam passage is often more useful than a general statement that the fabric is not running as expected.
